There are many ways to support the school: financial contributions, tutorial support, volunteering to help with the grounds; volunteering to read with a child; eat lunch with a child at school; serve as a Proctor during testing; be a Big Brother or Big Sister; share your skill, craft, or trade as a Workshop Leader or Guest Speaker; become a "Foster Grandparent"; provide supplies for a classroom or group of students working on a project; provide clerical support; and so on...the list is endless. If you show up at the school and/or contact the school or myself, we will put you to work.
Recently we hosted a family evening to showcase the talents and skills of our students. We had a huge turnout (over 200 people in attendance!!). The energy in the building was electric, and exciting! In the same week we hosted a "Business Partners' Brunch" in the school library. We had a good crowd, delicious food, great entertainment by the children, and an opportunity to network with one another. This is when we are at our best--working together to grow the children in our community to be the best that they can be!
In the month of May, our students will take the required state End-of-Grade tests. This is a mandated measuring stick for our students; however we know that an education--an education of excellence-- exceeds the four walls of the classroom and includes the experiences, creativity, and entrepreneurial opportunities we provide for our students. Please partner with us in providing this learning environment and connected community for the children of Andrews, North Carolina.
